In November 2018, Steve Bannon, formerly a top aide to Donald Trump, visited the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.

The speech was interrupted by hundreds of protesters, and Bannon, who was due to travel that night, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an message: "Protesters slowed down speech I doubt I can make the plane we r enroute to the airport".

Epstein replied: "There. Is a gulf air departing at 9:50 with a layover in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an amazing helper".

These exchanges were released on Wednesday together with over 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.

The release by the Congressional committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is withheld. The BBC has been able to confirm his identity by matching the dates, events, and places mentioned.

For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from Scotland for the redacted user in the messages, and offers praise their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the News Xchange conference on November 14, and gave the speech at the Oxford Union two days later.

Bannon, who is not accused of any misconduct, declined to comment on the inquiry.

'I'll make sure you're well looked after'

Bannon served as Trump's closest aides in the run up to the presidential election and during the initial phase of his first administration, but stepped down from the administration in August 2017.

He has acknowledged he was making a film about Epstein prior to his passing and reportedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his show recently, he stated: "We're going to publish the series, the five-part series, next year - at the start of next year."

But the newly released documents suggest Bannon's connection with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile occasionally appearing to serve like a personal assistant.

A few days prior to the exchange in which Epstein seemed to arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein said: "what's it like to have the highest-paid travel agent in the world ".

Bannon thanked him: "U r pretty good asst", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".

Discussing a trip to "AD" in another message, Epstein told Bannon: "I'll make sure you're well looked after."

British Affairs Mentioned in Messages

The released messages also show Bannon and Epstein discussing British political matters in 2018.

Earlier on the day of his speech at the Oxford Union, Bannon texted Epstein: "I became involved in the Brexit issue this morning with Nigel, Boris and Rees Mogg."

Then, in what seems like a reference to the UK prime minister, the embattled British leader at the time, he continued: "The guys are attempting to move on. May soon…"

Epstein suggested Bannon: "In my view remaining as long as you can in the UK. Best-- so others get the commitment of your follow through."

Shortly after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa May remain in power". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely BUT the guys here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Michael Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - somebody has to step up".

May was finally removed in May 2019 after surviving two votes of lack of support in December 2018.

A spokesman for Reform UK informed media: "Farage has never been in a gathering with Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is no evidence that encounter took place.

The Congress will vote next week on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its records related to its investigation into Epstein, who died in jail in that year.

Attention in Epstein's associations with influential individuals was reignited this week after the release of more than 20,000 pages from his estate.

Some of those referenced Trump, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The president was a friend of Epstein's for a long time, but says they parted ways in the 2000s, a couple of years before Epstein was first arrested.
